AGI

AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) -

Учредитель: AGI conferences организуются обществом the Artificial General Intelligence Society в кооперации с  the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).
Конференции проводятся ежегодно с 2008 года, начало положил более ранний семинар в 2006 году.
В ходе конференций проходят пленарные и секционные доклады, школы, семинары.

The annual Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) conferences are organized by the Artificial General Intelligence Society, in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), each year since 2008 (plus an earlier AGI Workshop in 2006).

The original goal of the AI field was the construction of “thinking machines” – that is, computer systems with human-like general intelligence. Due to the difficulty of this task, for the last few decades the majority of AI researchers have focused on what has been called “narrow AI” – the production of AI systems displaying intelligence regarding specific, highly constrained tasks.

The AGI conference series is the only major conference series devoted wholly and specifically to the creation of AI systems possessing general intelligence at the human level and ultimately beyond. By gathering together active researchers in the field, for presentation of results and discussion of ideas, we accelerate our progress toward our common goal.

The AGI conference series has played, and continues to play, a significant role in this resurgence of research on artificial intelligence in the deeper, original sense of the term of "artificial intelligence". The conferences encourage interdisciplinary research based on different understandings of intelligence, and exploring different approaches.

AGI-2016
was hosted as a part of
HLAI-2016: The Joint Multi-Conference on Human-Level Artificial Intelligence, July 16-19, 2016, New York City, NY, USA.

In 2016, the 60th anniversary of the Dartmouth Conferences (1956) will take place, commemorating the events which effectively inaugurated the history of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cognitive systems research. Many of the original founders of AI as a research discipline shared the dream of (re-)creating high-level intelligence with computational means, i.e., achieving human-level AI – a goal which is (possibly with varied interpretations) still pursued by many researchers all around the world today.

HLAI 2016 is a joint effort between the major conferences and academic events explicitly targeting work towards the computational (re-)creation of human-level intelligence, i.e., human-level (or strong) Artificial Intelligence.

HLAI 2016 combines the 2016 editions of the conferences and workshops:
AGI-2016 AGI, the Conference Series on Artificial General Intelligence.
BICA-2016 BICA, the Annual International Conferences on Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures.
NeSy-2016 NeSy, the Workshop Series on Neural-Symbolic Learning and Reasoning.
AIC-2016 AIC, the Workshop Series on Artificial Intelligence and Cognition and more.

AGIRI Workshop 2006 (Sponsored by Novamente LLC), May 20-21, 2006, AGIRI, North Bethesda, Maryland, USA

The term Artificial Intelligence was first used in 1955 by John McCarthy to propose the 1956 Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence. In recognition of the 50th anniversary of AI, the Artificial General Intelligence Research Institute (AGIRI) hosts its first workshop on AGI in 2006.

Book: Artificial General Intelligence Series: Cognitive Technologies. Goertzel, Ben, Pennachin, Cassio (Eds.) 2007
This is the first book on current research on artificial general intelligence (AGI), work explicitly focused on engineering general intelligence – autonomous, self-reflective, self-improving, commonsensical intelligence.
Each author explains a specific aspect of AGI in detail in each chapter, while also investigating the common themes in the work of diverse groups, and posing the big, open questions in this vital area.

See Pei Wang - Artificial General Intelligence — A gentle introduction

A renaissance started

Roughly in the period of 2004 to 2007, calls for research on general-purpose systems returned, both inside and outside mainstream AI.
Anniversaries are good time to review the big picture of the field. In the following collections and events, many well-established AI researchers raised the topic of general-purpose and human-level intelligence:

Artificial General Intelligence (Искусственный Разум)
